MoodleMoot Paraguay 2017 to be held in September

June 13, 2017

More MoodleMoots continue to be announced around the world! On our moodlemoot.org website, we recently added, onto our world map, MoodleMoot Paraguay!

Scheduled for 26 – 28 September at the National University of Asuncion, MoodleMoot Paraguay will bring together the Spanish speaking and larger Moodle community in the country for three days of activities, presentations, workshops and much more.

With a growing number of Moodle users in Latin and South American countries, MoodleMoots in the area bring together existing and interested Moodle users to share stories and innovations around edtech and how to best utilise this world’s open source learning platform.

We took the time to chat to one of the event organisers – Laura Martinez – on all things MoodleMoot Paraguay!

So if you are looking to attend MoodleMoot Paraguay, find out what’s on the agenda and how to get involved in this community-run event!

Moodle HQ: Thanks for talking to us about MoodleMoot Paraguay Laura!

Can you tell us a little bit about the history of MoodleMoot Paraguay – when did it first start, how did it start and the community behind the event?

Laura: MoodleMoot is a conference aimed at Moodle users, developers and administrators. It is the fourth edition here in Paraguay. It started in 2012 with the collaboration of developers from the Polytechnic Faculty of the National University of Uruguay. As we saw the increase in number of educational institutions using Moodle, we decided to add MoodleMoot to an Elearning Conference we’d been organizing every year at the Polytechnic Faculty of the National University of Paraguay.

Moodle HQ: For someone who is new to Moodle and has never attended a MoodleMoot before, can you describe what they can expect at MoodleMoot Paraguay 2017?

What has been planned for three days for the Moot?

Laura: MoodleMoot is an opportunity to interact with colleagues, users and also to get to know Moodle latest trends. They will find or hear about:

  • Experiences in the use of Moodle from the perspective of different roles.
  • Good practices for using activities and resources.
  • Solutions to commonly known issues
  • Hands-on workshops

During the three days of the event, we mean to share the new features of the latest version, have workshops focused on the pedagogical aspect of Moodle, successful experiences and Moodle trends.

Moodle HQ: In your opinion, what are the benefits or positives for someone to attend or present at MoodleMoot Paraguay?

Laura:The first positive outcome would be to exchange experiences of Moodle implementation with other professional Moodlers from the continent.

They will also become part of a regional virtual space for elearning specialists. This space will allow different institutions to connect, communicate, and collaborate with each other.

Participants will contribute with increased knowledge about Moodle in the country promoting its use and the development Moodle apps and functionalities

Moodle HQ: For someone who would like to submit a proposal to present at MoodleMoot Paraguay, what are some of tips you’d recommend they include in their proposal?

Is there also a theme for this year’s conference?

Laura: We would strongly recommend to include the processes behind the proposal, its impact and the difficulties found during implementation.

This year main topic is Moodle trends in the pedagogical, technical and technological field.

Thank you again, Laura, for taking the time to talk to us about all things MoodleMoot Paraguay.
