Manage deadlines and events easily with improvements to the calendar in Moodle 3.4!

November 13, 2017

Calendar improvements in Moodle 3.4 will assist users to manage their deadlines and events more efficiently than ever before.

The Moodle Users Association (MUA) submitted and funded the Moodle calendar improvement project. For those who don’t know about the MUA, the association is a non for profit group that support the development of Moodle core through a memberships and project submission / voting system.

The calendar update is one of the biggest improvements to Moodle 3.4.

Here are some of the exciting things our users can experience with the new improved calendar feature:

  • A new category event feature is now available to those who can manage categories, such as site admins. This type of event is in addition to existing site and course events;
  • Events can be created by clicking the New Event button and then a new window pops up for adding the relevant information easily. Saving the details will then display the event in the calendar;
  • If our users would like to amend the event to a different, there is now the option to simply drag and drop the event to the corrected or new date! You can even move it into the next month!
  • The event and its new date will show immediately in the smaller calendar blocks to the side of the Moodle dashboard.
