Divine Word University
Moodle integration with SIS as a foundation for a paperless university as developed at Divine Word University, Papua New Guinea.
|For more than a decade, the Divine Word University (DWU) has been recognised as a leading higher education institution in Papua New Guinea in terms of technology integration into all aspects of teaching and learning, including assessment. The University quest for excellence in innovative teaching and learning is supported by the Centre for Learning and Teaching. |11:50 AM||The Akademia story: Moodle in the middle|
Elzette le Roux
|Accessibility to and affordability of quality higher education – especially education in one's mother tongue – are legitimate obstacles to most South Africans. These perceived obstacles are the very catalysts that inspired Akademia’s unique teaching model. Akademia, a non-profit private higher education institution, makes use of Moodle as an integral part of a unique high technology model in order to overcome such obstacles. Placing Moodle in the middle between student and educator provided the ideal opportunity for establishing a community university that makes open, quality, collaborative and accessible distance education possible.|
|12:10 PM||Pushing the Moodle Boundaries for Creative Online Company Solutions.|
|I have worked on many Learner Management Systems, from the most expensive to the free, and especially the ones that over promise and under deliver. Yet Moodle seems to never disappoint and offer endless possibility, and I tend to now associate the words “everything is possible” with Moodle. I would like to share case studies on how to push the boundaries and share how Moodle can be utilised creatively in the following settings: 1) CPD for Health Professionals, 2) Online and Offline in the Mining industry, 3) Cyber Awareness, 4) Competency Frameworks & Learning Plans.|
