Facilitated by Moodle HQ, Learn Moodle Basics is a free, four-week MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) designed for anyone who wishes to learn how to teach with Moodle. Whether you are a university professor, school teacher, company trainer or independent educator the course introduces you to Moodle’s teaching possibilities. Not an educator? Developers and Moodle admins also benefit from gaining a valuable insight into how teachers and students experience Moodle. Not very confident with technology? Facilitators Helen Foster and Mary Cooch from Moodle HQ, along with a number of experienced Moodler volunteers from all around the world, will be there 24/7 to guide you through.
This is the first time I have taken part in an online course and it has been a fantastic learning experience….the set-up of the videos, the transcripts, the activities and the discussions all come together to create a productive and effective online course.” (Kim, Austria)
The Learn Moodle Basics MOOC always follows a new release of Moodle, so this time we’ll be exploring the new features of Moodle 3.6 along with all the basics you need to get started in your Moodle course. We will look at:
…and much more! You will be given a ready-to-use practice course to work in, so you don’t have worry about Moodle installation. At the end of the four weeks, you’ll learn how to save a copy of your course and you’ll be encouraged to request a free MoodleCloud site to continue your learning. Experiencing the basics of teaching with Moodle will also put you in a great position to tackle further Moodle training from your local Moodle partner.
The Learn Moodle Basics MOOC has been training new Moodlers since 2013 and feedback from previous participants is very positive. Some organisations even sign up as a group and help each other – a great way of building understanding together in the MOOC.
