Exciting things are happening at Moodle Users Association!

Do you want to get your ideas into Moodle?

The Moodle Users Association (MUA) – a not for profit association which contributes to core development – recently announced two exciting statements: Committee member nominations are now being accepted and a new project cycle (one of two per year to propose and vote on new Moodle development project) is open.

Let’s find out more about these two exciting activities with the MUA.

Committee member nominations

MUA members support the growth of Moodle by providing a strong and united voice to users, giving direction and resources for new Moodle developments.

Committee members are Moodle Users Association members which have specific roles within the association. They also provide feedback to members who have submitted project proposals.

MUA Chair, Steve Powell, discusses the role of the committee further in this blog post.

New Project Cycle is now open

As was announced in the MUA forum, the second project cycle of 2017 is now open!

Each MUA project cycle starts with phase 1 – the project development phase – where members (no matter the membership level), can propose projects to improve Moodle. This phase lasts for 4 months, allowing the MUA to finalise votes and do the necessary follow-up work.

The project is then reviewed in phase two. At this time project proposers have the opportunity to edit their submissions in preparation for their proposals to be reviewed by us here at Moodle HQ.

Phase 3 is all about voting! Each MUA member casts their votes according to their membership level. The votes are then tallied and funding is raised for the successful projects.

For a more detailed look at how the MUA’s project cycle works, we have summarised in more detail in a previous blog post.

You can also find out about past examples of Moodle Users Association projects being included in Moodle core for ideas and inspiration. For example, Gemma Lesterhuis’ project “overview block” for Moodle 3.3.
