Athens gets ready for MoodleMoot Greece 2018

November 5, 2018 By Júlia Verdaguer

The year is coming to an end, but MoodleMoots don’t stop happening around the globe! This week we speak to Kostas Papadimas from the Organisation of Open Technologies – EELLAK, an organisation that promotes openness through the use and development of Open Standards and Open Software or Open Architecture Technologies.

EELLAK are also one of the organisers of MoodleMoot Greece 2018, which is taking place in Athens in November 29 and 30. This is the 2nd Moot in the country and is co-organised by the The National Technical University of Athens, the Hellenic Open University, the University of Western Attica in TEI of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the Greek School Network.

Moodle HQ: Hello Kostas, it is great news that MoodleMoot Greece is happening again this year. What was the feedback from last year’s Moot in Greece that might have prompted a second Moot?

Kostas: MoodleMoot Greece 2017 was very successful. More than 350 educators of primary, secondary and vocational education, researchers, academics, professionals and companies, that use and develop courses, shared their knowledge and experiences and learned new ways to improve their learning environment.

Our objectives are to make MoodleMoot Greece a yearly event, where this community comes together, and shares its experience with the Moodle open source platform in order to enhance and improve its educational projects.

Moodle HQ:
Is there a theme for this year’s Moot or a focus on particular topics?

Kostas: MoodleMoot Greece 2018 will focus more on workshops about the use and development of Moodle. Of course we will accept case studies of innovative uses and development of Moodle in Greece and presentations of good practices which are useful for the community.

Moodle HQ:
How can people and Moodlers get involved with Moot Greece 2018?

Kostas: They can submit ideas and proposals about presentations and workshops through https://moodlemoot.org/mootgr18/presentation/ until November 12 or book their spot through https://moodlemoot.org/mootgr18/registration-2/

Moodle HQ:
What can we look forward to for Moot Greece 2018? Or what new has been planned?

Kostas: MoodleMoot Greece 2018 is a two day conference for all users, developers and administrators of the Moodle platform. A lot of interesting presentations and workshops about new ways to use and improve the Moodle learning environment will take place!

Moodle HQ: How can people stay in touch and be aware of all of the important dates for Moot Greece 2018?
