MoodleCloud and BigBlueButton integration continue to advance online learning

October 5, 2016

Fourteen months since its official release, MoodleCloud is now hosting thousands of education sites. Now, with the add on purchase option for BigBlueButton users, online learning is more accessible and interactive than ever.

Moodle, the world’s open source learning platform, today announced the BigBlueButton add on feature for MoodleCloud sites, in response to many requests from users.

Moodle Founder and CEO, Dr Martin Dougiamas, explained that the add on feature allows more educators and learners to collaborate and engage in their online learning space, making education technology truly interactive.

“Moodle’s mission has always been to help educators improve learning with open, accessible tools to use as they wish,” said Dr Dougiamas.

“Together with our good open source friends at BigBlueButton, we have, to date, been able to offer up to six free users to access high quality web conferencing system in the MoodleCloud sites.”

“Requests for more BigBlueButton users indicate that educators and learners are effectively using the full video, audio, whiteboarding and presentation support in their MoodleCloud sites.”

“So we are pleased to offer the BigBlueButton add on option for all Moodle for School sites.”

The BigBlueButton add on option is now available by logging to your MoodleCloud portal and clicking on the “Upgrade your plan and purchase add-ons” option.

The BigBlueButton add on option is currently only available for Moodle for School sites and in increments of six users, up to a total of 30 BigBlueButton users for each site.

Prices for purchasing extra BigBlueButton users start at $300 AUD per year for additional six users.

“BigBlueButton is focused on providing remote students a high-quality online learning experience,” said Fred Dixon, CEO of Blindside Networks.

“Both Moodle and BigBlueButton open source projects share this ethos.”

“We at Blindside Networks are very happy to be working closely with Moodle to give instructors using MoodleCloud the ability to hold larger online classes in BigBlueButton.”
