8 Ways our Moodle HQ team is taking part in Earth Hour 2020

March 27, 2020

With our entire organisation now working remotely in light of the ongoing health crisis as a result of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, we’ll be celebrating Earth Hour 2020 from the comfort of our homes. It’s an hour of no power – the largest global movement for our planet to raise awareness and take action on the impact of climate change, a global issue Moodle close to Moodle’s heart.

As with many organisations, our team is a mix of individuals, parents, couples, pet families and more, and just because we’re staying at home, doesn’t mean we won’t be making Earth Hour memorable! To help you join us in celebrating, we’ve put together a list of 8 ways we’ll be taking part.

  1. Games Night
Something for all ages and abilities, you can even connect online through apps such as Houseparty to play with others if you’re home alone!
  2. Candlelit dinner
Light some candles and have a cozy, hearty meal with your loved ones.
  3. Art + Craft
Some of our team members will be spending time on knitting projects, others are building playdough sculptures with their kids. You can pick up an old hobby too or why not get started with a new one!
  4. Scavenger hunt
Involve your children and hide different letters of the alphabet around the house for them to find, and then put together a word or phrase (for example, “Earth Hour”!) – a great family activity.
  5. Self-care Hour
We often forget about self-care because we’re just too busy with our own and our families’ day-to-day duties. Earth Hour can be a good moment to disconnect from the outside and connect with ourselves, whether it’s through yoga, meditation, or a bubble bath!
  6. Read a book by candlelight
We all spend a lot of time in front of screens, so some of us are making time to wind down and pick up that book we’ve been meaning to start reading.
  7. Sit outside and look up at the stars
Reduce the noise around you, sit outside with a warm drink and just be.
  8. Go to bed early!
Who doesn’t need more sleep? Catch up on some extra zzzz’s by switching off a little earlier than normal.
