April 3, 2017

Edtech innovators, educators, academics and industry leaders will have the chance to experience both a US MoodleMoot and BbWorld 2017 in New Orleans, from 25 – 27 July.

Moodle – the world’s open source learning platform – today announced that they are holding one of their edtech conferences (MoodleMoot US – New Orleans) at Blackboard’s annual conference, BbWorld.

This MoodleMoot is one of two in the US this year, the other being in Florida in November.

MoodleMoots are run all over the world. They are global edtech conferences dedicated to the open source community, run over many years, bringing together innovators and leaders in the industry to share best practice and the latest in education technology.

MoodleMoot US 2017 – New Orleans, hosted by BbWorld will feature three days of developers’ convention sessions, over 100 presentations, keynotes by leading global edtech leaders, exhibitions, workshops and masterclasses.

Moodle Founder and CEO, Dr Martin Dougiamas, commented on the event: “Blackboard is our largest certified Moodle Partner through its open-source learning platform Moodlerooms.”

“While many might come for one conference or the other, this conference provides a particularly unique opportunity for Moodlerooms clients to get both worlds in one place.”

“Participants will have the opportunity to recharge their practice, discover the state of the art in online learning, meet peers and empower each other to provide the best in education technology.”

BbWorld brings together thousands of educators, administrators and industry leaders to network, share successes, and build action plans addressing critical issues in education such as driving student success.

Blackboard Chairman, CEO and President, Bill Ballhaus, commented on the event: “As a long-time supporter of open standards and contributor to the open source community, Blackboard is honored to host a MoodleMoot at BbWorld 2017. Bringing MoodleMoot and BbWorld together will provide attendees an opportunity to network, share experiences and learn from each other, regardless of the specific education technology solutions they use.”
