MoodleMoot comes to Guatemala on 22 August 2017

July 5, 2017

MoodleMoot Guatemala is officially coming back this year on 22 August 2017!

As per last year, MoodleMoot Guatemala aims to share experiences and good practices in the use of Moodle as a virtual learning platform in the educational and business area.

Last year, MoodleMoot Guatemala invited organisations and education institutions that want to integrate technology into their education and training. The conference was also attended by members of the Guatemalan Moodle community and people who work with the Moodle platform to share their projects and best practices.

To find out what is in store with MoodleMoot Guatemala in 2017, we talk to the primary organiser, Alvaro Navarro.

Moodle HQ: Alvaro, thank you for taking the time to talk to us about MoodleMoot Guatemala 2017.

Would you be able to start by letting us know how you and Corporate Learning are connected with Moodle and MoodleMoots?

Alvaro: We´ve been working with Moodle for a number of years now. We have noticed that all kind of organisations are using Moodle more and more these days, therefore we have identified the opportunity to contribute with inputs in Moodle events where we are invited to participate.
All in all, we know for sure there is a huge opportunity for Guatemala to have our own MoodleMoot from which a Moodle community could start to share experiences and lessons learned in order to use Moodle at its maximum capacity.

Moodle HQ: This year’s MoodleMoot in Guatemala is being held on 22 August 2017. Can you tell us a bit more about the conference in terms of where is it being held, what is the theme, what activities can participants look forward to and what the goal/s are this year?

And what types of presentations would you like people to present at MoodleMoot Guatemala?

Alvaro: The MoodleMoot will be held at Universidad Rafael Landivar this year. This university has one of the greater implementation of Moodle in Guatemala.
Main topics this year are as follows:

  • Building resources for learning
  • Development and Competences Plans
  • Instructional Design
  • Gamification
  • Mobile Learning
  • Learning Analytics
  • Collaborative learning

Experts in Moodle and E-Learning will be sharing their experiences through conferences and interactive sessions.

Moodle HQ: Who would benefit from participating in MoodleMoot Guatemala? And how can they participate? As a presenter, attendee or other?

Alvaro: MoodleMoot is an open platform to all people interested in knowing more about Moodle and willing to be part of the Moodle community in Guatemala.

This event is free of charge. Participants can sign up online at the MoodleMoot official website, either as attendee or presenter but you will have to express interest either way.

Moodle HQ: Last question, how can people keep up to date with all the activities in the lead up to the day of the conference and not miss out on important news or information?

Alvaro: We will welcome any kind of inputs related to the #MootGT17, in our official website where our experts would love to interact with the community in real time. Or, you can join us through our Facebook fan page.

Thank you, Alvaro, for taking the time to chat to us. We really appreciate your time.
