MoodlerMonday: Meet our new MoodleMoot events extraordinaire, Georgie Holst.

March 19, 2018

Moodlers, it’s the start of a whole new week and we’re kicking things off with another opportunity to learn more about a prominent member of our Moodle community.

As many of you may know Moodle HQ is based in Perth, Australia, although we have members of Moodle HQ working all over the world.

This week the Perth team grew by one more member as we welcome Georgie Holst to the role of Events Coordinator.

As an Events Coordinator, Georgie will become our resident MoodleMoot guru by overseeing the planning of all Moodle HQ hosted MoodleMoots, as well as assist our Moodle Community members and our Moodle Partners with other local Moots.

Let’s get to know our newest Moodler, Georgie, better in today’s Moodlers Monday.

Moodle HQ: Welcome to Moodle Georgie, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your new role in Moodle?

Georgie: I’m very excited by the opportunity to work at Moodle as the Events Coordinator. I have a varied background working as an events professional for not-for-profit organisations and local government to working as a musician with a specialisation in jazz piano and voice. I love travel and meeting new people.

My role at Moodle will primarily include coordinating the fabulous MoodleMoots across the globe!

Moodle HQ: What attracted you to work at Moodle?

Georgie: Being part of a global community that strives to give back to the community really drew me to apply for the role at Moodle.

Moodle HQ: On the subject of MoodleMoots, what are they and why should Moodlers attend?

Georgie: MoodleMoots are events that are usually 2-3 days long where Moodle users are brought together to learn, discuss, debate and exchange ideas. It’s a wonderful opportunity to network and connect with other Moodlers and a fantastic way to keep up-to-date with everything ‘Moodle’.

Moodle HQ: MoodleMoots are happening all over the world, what event stands out to you as ‘not to be missed’?

Georgie: I’m looking forward to attending the Australian MoodleMoot in September! I can’t wait to meet the passionate Moodlers in the country that the company was founded. Brisbane is always a treat to travel to and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is one of my favourite venues in Australia.

Moodle HQ: How can our global Moodle community get involved in MoodleMoots?

Georgie: Submit an abstract and present, read our news and forum posts about Moots, send us your feedback on what you’d like to hear about at your local Moot and best of all – attend a local MoodleMoot!

If you would like to join Georgie and other Moodlers at a MoodleMoot near you check out the map on our official website.

Georgie will be at the upcoming MoodleMoot UK & Ireland in Glasgow from 26 – 28 March as her first event so if you are coming along, say hi!
