MoodleMoot China 2019 was organised and hosted by the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

The event brought together more than 300 educators, instructional designers and Moodle users in the Higher Ed sector, as well as renowned learning edtech experts from China, to discuss the use of technology in the changing Education landscape.

During two days packed with keynotes, short presentations, workshops and other social activities, delegates of MoodleMoot China shared good practices and experiences about our open source LMS Moodle with peers and with Moodle’s CEO and Founder Martin Dougiamas, who attended the event to meet the Chinese Moodle Community and education professionals in the country.

In his keynote, Martin emphasised the importance of education and open technology in fostering the development of global citizens with critical thinking skills who are able to face and solve world problems and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Moodle’s new open source social network for educators MoodleNet, he said, will provide educators around the world with a space to collaborate in developing good educational practices.

The Manager of the Educational Technologies Team at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Rolan Sherwood, stated how technology can help deliver education to many people in a country with an already high Moodle presence in Universities, and where an increasing number of people are pursuing a higher education.
