Twice a year, Moodle HQ offers a free, facilitated MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for anyone who wants to teach with Moodle. You may have seen our announcement about the next Learn Moodle Basics starting on 5 October 2020.
But I need to learn Moodle now!
We have good news! A free, self-paced version of the popular Learn Moodle Basics MOOC is now available, called Moodle Teaching Basics and you can sign up and enrol right now.
Tell me more about Moodle Teaching Basics
You can take this course any time, and work through the activities at your own pace. As a rough guide, we suggest the whole course will take around 12 hours.
There are four areas of study:
1. Get started: understand how to navigate Moodle, set up your teaching space and give access to your learners.
2. Add content: discover the best ways to display teaching materials and track progress.
3. Involve your learners: encourage discussion, collaboration and other interactivity. Explore grading in Moodle, including Quizzes, Assignments and H5P.
4. Make more of your course: learn how to save and reuse your course and explore some advanced features covered in Moodle Partner training.
Will we have the chance to ask questions?
Moodle Teaching Basics is non-facilitated, but if you have questions then you’re very welcome to join the community in our Moodle forums where experienced Moodlers around the world will offer support.
And remember, Learn Moodle 3.9 Basics starting on 5 October includes live sessions and 24/7 support from our HQ facilitators Helen Foster and Mary Cooch plus our many experienced Moodle-using teachers.
So once I complete the course, what then?
Everyone who completes the course will receive a Moodle Teaching Basics completer badge. There is also an option to purchase a certificate of completion and help support our Moodle HQ developers and educators to continue improving the world’s most popular open source LMS. When you donate, you help Moodle HQ sustain open and quality education for all.
