June 25, 2018

Today, edtech giant Moodle, celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Barcelona, Spain.

Founded in Perth, Australia, Moodle is an open source learning platform with 100,000 registered sites and over 130 million users worldwide.

Moodle’s bold expansion is a result of the company growing to meet the increasing global demand for its software.

The Moodle Barcelona headquarters, which are located in the Eixample District of Barcelona, will also act as a gateway for further opportunities within Europe whilst supporting the ongoing work taking place in the Australian headquarters, based in Perth.

Worldwide, Moodle is used by organisations such as the United Nations, Google and World Vision.

In pursuit of their mission of “empowering educators to improve our world”, Moodle’s free software gives educators and learners powerful, flexible tools for online learning collaboration.

Moodle’s mission is supported by Moodle’s 90 plus global Partners, its investment partner Education For The Many and its global community of “Moodlers”.

Moodle’s Barcelona headquarters, were officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony by Moodle’s Founder and CEO, Martin Dougiamas. Moodle HQ staff from Barcelona and Perth also attended the opening.

During the ceremony, Dougiamas commented on the significance of this expansion:

“The Barcelona office is the next step in our journey towards our mission to make the world a better place by empowering educators. This strategic location, close to Europe and South America, will allow us to make new connections and strengthen our project of bringing quality education worldwide.”
