Michelle Moore is an internationally recognized expert in online learning. A former middle school math teacher, Michelle has been an advocate for Moodle since evaluating it fifteen years ago during a review of learning management systems while completing her Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. Enamored with Moodle's capabilities and its foundation in social constructionism, it wasn't long before Michelle's passion led her to a full-time position training and providing support for educators and trainers in schools, universities, and businesses across North America. Since then, Michelle has helped thousands of Moodlers leverage Moodle's features to design quality online, blended, and mobile learning experiences.
Michelle is an energetic, award-winning speaker who presents regularly at MoodleMoots and educational technology conferences worldwide on the use of Moodle with a strong emphasis on pedagogy and best practices. Michelle is pursuing a doctorate in Learning Technologies at University of North Texas where she is actively researching online education and constructivist teaching methods.
As the founder and President of Moonami (now Moodle US), John has been involved with Moodle since 2013. In addition to his strategic and managerial duties, he has been involved with client implementation projects, site migrations and customer support. Prior to forming Moonami, his work experience mainly involved enterprise software services delivery, particularly in the manufacturing market. He now lives in Noblesville, Indiana.
Kathie has been working in online learning since its inception in the 90’s. Kathie’s academic preparation and experience are very broad. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in liberal arts, psychology, nursing, business, and education. Her career has included a short stint in computer programming (1970’s era), performing psychological testing and assessment, managing a large community based crisis intervention team (including running with the SWAT team), working in clinical practice as a nurse and nurse practitioner, and spending over 15 years teaching both undergraduate and graduate learners. She started using Moodle in 2003 with version 1.0.9 after being tasked with bringing online learning to the hospital-based school of nursing at which she was teaching. She has delivered countless Moodle trainings world-wide and previously served as Chief Services Officer and CFO for Global operations for Remote-Learner (a former Moodle Partner). Along with Galin Vassilev and another partner, she co-founded Elearning Experts in 2012 and has served as CEO. She is also the author of a children’s book series.
Ideas that resonate with her today include how both social constructionism and connectivism theory inform a new learning paradigm. She is inspired by art, music, teaching, children, and people who survive despite apparently insurmountable challenges. She recharges through sleep, solitude, silence, making time for thought and growing things.
Galin first worked with Moodle in 2010 when he began working with Remote-Learner, a former Moodle Partner. As Director of Infrastructure, Galin supported hundreds of clients over 150 servers across 3 data centers. In 2012, he helped launch Elearning Experts where he served as Chief Technology Officer and Co-CEO.
Galin is particularly interested in distributed computing and how it applies to Moodle and LMS design in general. Other areas of interest include artificial intelligence and what defines it as such, quantum computing, non-technology, along with history and politics. He is inspired by those rare individuals who understand that working towards achieving a vision of the world as it should be rather than what it is, is not a matter of courage but rather simply a choice. He recharges through sleep, reflection, spending time with his family and dogs, and coming up with new ways to make them laugh.
