MoodleMoot China is officially on the calendar, scheduled for March 26, 2026. The one-day event will bring together the Moodle community to explore how AI is reshaping teaching and education. It will also address the responsibilities of platforms like Moodle to provide teachers with the best tools to meet future demands.
Hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and organised by XJTLU Learning Mall, this event will be the perfect platform for educators, developers, administrators, and learners to engage in cross-disciplinary dialogue.
AI meets digital teaching
This year’s theme, ‘AI Meets Digital Teaching: The Moodle Ecosystem in Action,’ is grounded in practical applications. It highlights how AI is being applied today to deliver education and how the Moodle ecosystem provides a set of tools and workflows ideal for real-world use.
You can expect some key topics, such as curriculum design, learning assessment, and educational management through data and automation, to be part of the discussion.
Why you should attend
MoodleMoots are known to be community-driven! Attendees can expect:
- Keynote sessions from Martin Dougiamas, Founder of Moodle, alongside other leading voices in education and technology
- Contributions from Moodle’s Chief Product Officer, Marie Achour, sharing the latest platform developments and insights
- Peer-to-peer exchanges that prioritise dialogue over sales pitches
- A truly global perspective, shaped by both Eastern and Western educational excellence
As Zhefei Zhu, Technical Research and Development Manager at Learning Mall, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, puts it:
Explore a unique location
With its 2,500-year-old history, Suzhou has much to offer. From its canals, pagodas, and stone bridges, the city has earned the title of a UNESCO World Heritage site for its classical gardens, spanning over 1000 years.
A few gardens you could explore:
- Humble Administrator’s Garden – The largest garden in Suzhou, this masterpiece was created during the Ming Dynasty. If you love vast waterbodies and bridges, then this is a must-visit for you.
- Lingering Garden – Beauty and aesthetics meet at this mystical garden. With its moon gates and corridors, the ingenious architecture creates a unique sensation of infinite space.
- Master of the Nets – The garden perfectly blends art and nature. If you are someone who appreciates scenery and abstract visuals, you might be in for a treat then.
- Couple’s Retreat Garden – Originally built in 1874, this pair of gardens is connected by a beautifully canopied walkway.
- Canglang Pavilion – As the oldest classical garden, dating back to 1044 CE, its design contrasts with the constructed nature and built environment, such as water bodies and man-made hills.
