In October 11-12, the first ever MoodleMoot in Africa took place in Cape Town, South Africa.
More than 150 delegates from universities, schools, private companies and other institutions joined Moodle HQ at the Cape Town International Convention Centre for two days of sharing, learning and talking about education, edtech and our Open Source LMS.
MootAFR18 was an exciting and inspiring event with good presentations, good discussions, and also good fun with very engaged ‘Moodlers’!
Opening keynote and what’s coming for Moodle
After welcoming all delegates, our CEO and Founder Martin Dougiamas opened the Moot with his keynote address, where he discussed Moodle’s goals and commitment to our mission to empower educators worldwide as well as our alignment with the UN sustainable development goals.

#MootAFR18 Moodle is a social initiative – a free LMS, co-created by 1000s of developers for the good of everyone & for the promotion of quality learning. Great passion for learning here. How can we harness this for SA society… we need this. @chartallbc @leighbubz
