If you’re a MoodleCloud user, you can expect to be enjoying the new Moodle 3.6 shortly in your automatically updated Moodle sites.

What’s new in Moodle 3.6?
As we highlighted in an earlier post, the latest update of Moodle comes with benefits for learners, instructors and administrators, including:

  • An enhanced course overview and new dashboard blocks
  • Nextcloud integration
  • Additional privacy settings to further embed our GDPR support
  • Support for Open Badges version 2 specification.
  • Media uploads in assignment feedback

You will also be pleased to explore a new Messaging interface, with options to control who can message you and a really exciting new, work-in-progress setting, Context freezing, allowing you to make courses, course content and other areas of Moodle ‘read only’.

We will be delving deeper into these features over the coming days, but if you want a general overview, take a look at our youtube playlist: Moodle 3.6 Release Highlights and our community documentation: Moodle 3.6 New features

In memory of Tom Murdock
Moodle 3.6 is released in memory of our valued colleague Tom Murdock, who passed away in November. Always positive, always smiling, Tom was a long-time Moodler and teacher who contributed a great deal to the Moodle program and inspired many students and colleagues. His mission was our mission: to Empower Educators to Improve our World.
