Celebrating World Teachers’ Day

October 4, 2021 By Moodle

On October 5th, the world acknowledges teachers’ contribution to education and development

Celebrated since 1994, and promoted by UNESCO, World Teachers’ Day commemorates teachers‘ fundamental role in our society. Vital to unearthing the potential of children and youth across the world, teachers are the most powerful and influential force for equity, access and quality in education.

Teachers at the heart of education recovery

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, teachers worldwide have been under a huge amount of pressure to adapt classroom delivery to a fully online or hybrid model, often going to incredible lengths to ensure that their students did not miss out on their education.

With almost half of the world’s students still affected by partial or full school closures2021’s World Teachers’ Day focuses on the effect that the pandemic has had on educators worldwide and on the support that teachers need to contribute to the education recovery. We believe that giving teachers access to connectivity, online learning tools and learning opportunities is key to this recovery, and that freedom and access to edtech are fundamental to allowing education to flourish and grow in a more equitable and accessible way, in all corners of the world. That’s why Moodle LMS is, and will always remain, open source: to empower educators worldwide to improve our world.  As a Certified B Corporation, we are also committed to making decisions and implementing practices that positively impact teachers, learners, society and the environment.

For World Teachers’ Day, at Moodle HQ we want to celebrate and thank teachers worldwide who protect the right to education even in the most challenging circumstances. Thank you for the wonderful work you do.
