Moodle 4.0 comes with a built-in video conference solution for your LMS: BigBlueButton (BBB), which enables organisations to deliver quality eLearning through virtual classes. The free BBB tier included in Moodle 4.0 by default enables teachers to run sessions of up to 60 minutes and for up to 25 people.

This open source video conferencing software includes tools to foster collaboration and teamwork in virtual classes, such as a virtual whiteboard, polls, screen sharing and breakout rooms.

Administrators of Moodle sites can configure the settings of BBB through the Plugins Activity modules. Some of these settings include a default welcome message to virtual classrooms, which teachers can modify, pre-uploading presentations ready for use in the room or whether participants are allowed to turn on their cameras during the session.

All virtual classrooms in the BigBlueButton free tier can be recorded, and participants will have access to the recordings for up to 7 days after the session, using the same link.
