As you may already know, Moodle is used in every country in the world by hundreds of millions of registered users.
That’s a lot of Moodlers using our open source learning platform!
But did you know that not only can you register yourself as a Moodler, you can also register your Moodle sites?
Every registered Moodle site gives us, Moodle HQ, a better picture of how Moodle is used worldwide. We use this information to make data-driven decisions about new features and plugins which will improve how our users teach and learn using our platform.
If you haven’t registered your site yet (or if you didn’t know it was an option) here are five very good reasons to do so:
Now, if you are worried about security when registering your site, you don’t have to worry!
When you register your Moodle site we use the aggregated anonymous data to publish the statistics of the worldwide community. This means we don’t share your information with anyone and we will never go into your Moodle site.
You don’t want your details to be public? No problem! Your registration is private to us unless you choose to make it public.
To all our EU Moodle sites, with GDPR laws coming into effect, don’t worry either! We are working with our new data privacy officer and a legal consultant specialising in this to make sure that our registration system is compliant before 25 May.
Now that you know all the benefits of registering your Moodle site the only question is “how do you do it?”
You can register your site by logging in as an administrator and going to Site administration > Registration. Only sites which are online can be registered.
Of course registering your Moodle site is optional, but the more sites that are registered, the better a picture we get of how Moodle is used.
So if you want to be the first to know about Moodle updates and help us improve Moodle, register today or learn more at moodle.org.
