Showcase your expertise with MEQ

Have you taught with Moodle LMS or Moodle Workplace™ for at least a year? Have you already completed Moodle training on Moodle Academy or training with a Moodle Certified Partner or Service Provider? If so, then consider qualifying your skills with the Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) program.

Important note

The former Moodle Educator Certification (MEC) is now known as the Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ). This rebranding comes with a fresh, new-look certificate, but rest assured, the program remains the same at its core — designed to empower educators and learning professionals with the skills they need to succeed in the digital world.

What is the Moodle Educator Qualification?

The MEQ is a qualification program for educators, or learning and development professionals, who have experience in teaching or training with Moodle LMS or Moodle Workplace. The MEQ emphasises the importance of developing pedagogic and professional competences to enhance and innovate online education and training. Although it is not a training program, as participants progress through the qualification process, they will reflect on their practice and this will strengthen their understanding and confidence when teaching with Moodle.

MEQ is based on the widely used and accepted European Framework for the Digital Competence for Educators (DigCompEdu). It is a six-course qualification program that allows experienced Moodle educators, or learning and development professionals, to demonstrate their expertise in teaching or creating learning development programs with Moodle LMS or Moodle Workplace. Educators who successfully complete the program will obtain an official qualification certificate directly from Moodle Pty Ltd.

FAQs

Why was the MEC renamed?

The Moodle Educator Certification (MEC) was renamed the Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) to create a clearer and more distinctive qualification system. This change helps avoid confusion, especially when differentiating between individual qualifications and the services offered by Moodle Certified Partners and Service Providers. Although the name has changed, the program’s value, structure, and content remain the same.

Will I get a new certificate?

No, the MEC certificate is the equivalent of the MEQ certificate, so you can continue to use the MEC certificate. However, if you wish to request an MEQ certificate, you can contact us at qualifications@moodle.com.
