Italy hosts the last official MoodleMoot of 2018

November 23, 2018 By Júlia Verdaguer

After more than 15 official MoodleMoots around the world, including Australia, South Africa, Romania or the Philippines, MoodleMoot Italia 2018 is closing off the 2018 Official MoodleMoots from December 13-15 at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca in Milan.

Moodlers who attend #MootIT18 will have the chance to discover the long-awaited Italian translation of Moodle online documentation, see presentations about the use of Moodle and how it is affected by changing scenarios in the fields of education and training, as well as good practices with Moodle, research, experimentation, didactic practices, extensions development, and more.

The three-day event starts with a day dedicated to a technical tutorial followed by a Q&A live session with experienced Moodle sysadmins and developers, followed by two days of Moodle presentations.

Our Italian Moodle Partner MediaTouch will participate in the Moot with presentations on Enhanced Moodle User Experiences and Integrated Virtual 3D Lab Simulations and will also be available at the exhibition area to answer questions from delegates and talk about how to enhance e-learning projects with Moodle.

MoodleMoot Italia is organised by the Italian Moodle Users Association (AIUM), who bring together Italian users and organisations interested in research, development and teaching practices within the Moodle learning environment and promotes the use of the platform. We have spoken with Giuseppe Fiorentino from AIUM about the highlights of the upcoming event.

Moodle HQ: Hello Giuseppe, thank you for talking to us today about MoodleMoot Italia 2018!  This is the second Moot organised by AIUM, although the story of MoodleMoots in Italy started in 2005. Can you tell us a little about AIUM and why you decided to become the official MoodleMoot organisers?

Giuseppe: We wanted to make MoodleMoot Italia the reference event for the Italian community of Moodlers, trying to represent all its complexity: teachers and researchers, administrators and educators, developers and trainers.

Moodle HQ: What is the main theme of MoodleMoot Italia 2018 and what would AIUM like to achieve from it?

Giuseppe: There are many hot topics that we will deal with in Milan: the main one will be the GDPR, with all its administrative and legal implications; the new features of the upcoming version 3.6; the presentation of the awaited Moodle Italian documentation, and much more. I like to think of MoodleMoot Italia as the place where the Italian community can share ideas and start useful collaborations.

Moodle HQ: What are some of the highlights of the program so far, that delegates can look forward to?

Giuseppe: Well, there will be the chance to meet Martin Dougiamas, the CEO and founder of Moodle, and hear from him about Moodle and where it is going; we will also hear Carlo Polizzi, Moodle’s Data Privacy Officer, talk about how to implement the GDPR with Moodle, a really hot topic at the moment.

Moodle HQ: Finally, how can people get involved in the Moot and keep up to date with the latest news and announcements?

Giuseppe: Enrolling themselves in the event’s (Moodle) course on our national website, and attending the conference, of course!

Early Bird registrations for the Moot end on November 30, so don’t miss your chance to learn for less! Book your spot now in the MoodleMoot Italia 2018 website.
