MoodleMoot conferences are a learning and development opportunity to broaden skills, collaborate and discuss how the new trends in education and training can be effectively supported with the open-source LMS Moodle .

Moodle, the maker of the world’s most-used learning management system, and the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University have announced that the first official Moodle conference ever in China, MoodleMoot China 2019, will take place in Suzhou in May 2019.

Hosted and organised by the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, MoodleMoot China will be an innovative edtech conference where educators, software developers, instructional designers and other professionals related to the sector of education technology will have the opportunity to develop new skills through workshops and share good practices with the world’s leading open-source LMS, Moodle. A representation of Moodle HQ, including CEO and Founder Martin Dougiamas, will also attend the event to deliver keynotes and presentations and meet Moodle users in China.

“I am thrilled we can support the first MoodleMoot ever in China and help bring together the Moodle community in the country. There are many higher education institutions and others using our open-source LMS in China and this is a great opportunity to get to know how they are using Moodle and how we can better support them with our software” said Dougiamas.

On organising the first ever MoodleMoot in the country, Roland Sherwood, Manager of the Educational Technologies Team at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, said “Our institution is extremely honoured to be able to host this event and we really look forward to welcoming attendees from right across China to our campus in Suzhou, aka China’s Silicon Valley. As a unique, transnational institution which seeks to merge both Eastern and Western approaches to education, in addition to having used Moodle since our founding in 2006, we feel well-positioned to help ensure MoodleMoot China 2019 will be an exciting opportunity to learn, share and discuss the important role technology has to play in China’s changing educational landscape.”

With over 130 million users worldwide and a vibrant open source community, Moodle HQ supports and recognises a select number of MoodleMoots worldwide to encourage collaboration, empower educators with open source technology and be in direct touch with their users.
