Moodle Partners Global Meeting 2022 – Monday 26 September

This year’s MoodleMoot Global kicked off with our Moodle Partners Global Meeting 2022, plus the Dev Jam (Hackathon).

The Moodle Partners Global Meeting, attracted 92 partner representatives from 40 individual Moodle Certified partners from all over the world.

It was great to meet our partners face-to-face and allow us the opportunity to network, collaborate, and innovate together. We would like to thank all of our partners for being such an integral part of Moodle.

Dev Jam (Hackathon) – Monday 26 September

Our Dev Jam (Hackathon) was a session for Moodle programmers of any level to come together and discuss Moodle development. This was a great opportunity for anyone interested in how the Moodle development process works. Participants were invited to bring a list of bugs and improvements they wanted to be included in Moodle LMS and learned how to integrate them.

MoodleMoot Global day one – Tuesday 27 September

MoodleMoot Global 2022 got off to a great start with a first day packed with talks, workshops and networking opportunities. Over 775 Moodlers, from educators to administrators and developers, were all gathered for the first face-to-face global Moot since 2019.

CEO and founder of Moodle, Martin Dougiamas, then delivered his keynote speech, discussing “Where we can take Moodle next”. Martin’s speech emphasised that as we progress further into industry 4.0, AI and VR, it is more important than ever to collaborate to progress open infrastructure and learning. In particular, to counteract profit-focussed organisation seeking to maximise financial returns rather than benefit society.

Throughout the Moot, morning and afternoon coffee breaks provided a chance to network with fellow Moodlers and reflect on the important points made in the keynote presentation.

On day two of the MoodleMoot we were joined by our keynote Andreia Inamorato. At the intersection of research and policy, Andreia’s work contributes to identifying opportunities and challenges in implementing information and communication technologies (ICT) to modernise teaching, learning and training practices in Europe.

Andreia spoke to us on the important topic of ‘Educating for the future: the transformative power of openness’ and explained that progressing an open education model requires commitment at a policy, organisation/institution and individual level.

MoodleMoot Global costume party

On the second night of the Moot we ‘travelled back in time’ at our retro-themed costume party. It was great to see everyone dressed up and everybody got into the time travel spirit in the historical venue. There was even a prize for the best costume, with the lucky winner receiving a free ticket to next year’s Moot.
