Moodle Analytics at UNESCO Mobile Learning Week

March 6, 2019 By Júlia Verdaguer

Moodle HQ’s Lead Data Scientist David Monllaó has been selected to present at the annual UNESCO conference

Held annually at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the Mobile Learning Week convenes education and technology experts from around the world to provide the educational community, governments and other education stakeholders an opportunity to discuss how powerful and affordable advanced technology can accelerate learning for all.

The 2019 edition is focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for sustainable development. In his session ‘Moodle, the de facto learning platform to facilitate research and experimentation with educational data’, David Monllaó will be presenting the new analytics engine powered by machine learning built in Moodle, and how the open-research principles that guided the project design position Moodle as the de facto learning platform to facilitate research and experimentation with educational data.

Moodle’s open source nature makes it an ideal learning platform for Learning Analytics (LA) and Educational Data Mining (EDM) researchers and is used as the main source of data by a large number of LA and EDM researchers.
