August 7, 2017

Less than a month since we launched Moodle Desktop for Windows and Surface tablets (Version 10 and above with the Windows Anniversary Update).

On release, we received a lot of positive feedback about Moodle Desktop and you can read more about what Moodlers think about it in our Moodle Mobile forum.

Now, we are very pleased to announce that Moodle Desktop is also available for:

  • Mac OS (Note: Minimum Mac OS version supported is Mac OS 10.9)
  • Linux: Ubuntu 12.04, Fedora 21 and Debian 8 and later
  • Windows 7 and 8

You can now download Moodle Desktop for all of the above operating systems and applications from our website.

On release of Moodle Desktop for macOS, Linux and more versions of Windows, our Moodle Mobile Team Leader, Juan Leyva, reminded all Moodle users that this application contains all the features, functionalities and user experience elements that you will find in the Moodle Mobile app.

“In line with our commitment to making Moodle accessible to all our global users who using various operating systems and devices, we are happy to be making Moodle Desktop available for other versions of Windows, macOS and Linux,” said Juan.

“Users of Moodle Desktop can access all the functionalities and experience the same look and feel as with the Moodle Mobile app.”

“This means learners, students, administrators, trainers and educators, of any kind, can still easily access course content and download materials for offline, engage in activities such as quizzes, get notifications, view work and learning progress through the dashboard and much more.”

You can view the compatibility specifications for Moodle Desktop and download it via Moodle downloads.
