MoodleMoot Australia 2025: Why you cannot miss it

October 9, 2025 By Barnana Sarkar

Our habits and practices of learning have evolved, and today they require not only quality content but also adaptability in any environment. MoodleMoot Australia has always concentrated on creating the perfect opportunities to encourage conversations around that.

Following their largely successful event last year, which focused on the exploration of AI in learning, this year, that emphasis will expand on how to connect people, discover new possibilities, and innovate learning together.

Connect. Discover. Innovate.

MoodleMoot Australia provides an ideal space for Moodle enthusiasts to connect with the Moodle community in the APAC region. Experts from their fields share new possibilities for Moodle products and pave the way for future EdTech innovations.

The 2025 program is shifting its attention from automation and AI-driven transformation to collaboration, creativity, and community-powered innovation. Based on that, some of the themes that you can expect at this year’s sessions include:

  • Building seamless user experiences
  • Strategic extension and customisation for diverse sectors (education, telecommunications, and healthcare)
  • Data-informed decision-making through tools like PowerBI
  • Open-source innovation and co-creation

What you should know

Hosted at the Sydney Masonic Centre from November 24–25 by Catalyst IT Australia, MoodleMoot Australia 2025 promises two days of knowledge-sharing, storytelling, and hands-on exploration. The program brings together leading voices from universities, vocational institutes, and industry, including Monash University, NBN, and the Canberra Institute of Technology, along with Moodle HQ experts.

Marie Achour, Chief Product Officer from Moodle HQ, will bring back her presentation from the global conference on Shaping the Future of Moodle

Check out her talk at MoodleMoot Global 2025

Matt Porritt, Product Director for Platform Solutions at Moodle, will give an overview of the recently released features on the AI subsystem in Moodle LMS. He will cover areas that can be intriguing for educators, learners, developers, and administrators.

And this year, the two interactive workshops promise to be stand-out moments of collaboration:

  • Getting started with Moodle: Mapping the first-time experience (Teresa Watts, Moodle HQ) helps newcomers and experienced users alike reimagine onboarding through a learner’s eyes, bridging UX design with practical pedagogy.

  • What would you build? Designing the next Moodle extension invites participants to brainstorm, prototype, and pitch new ideas that could shape future Moodle creations.

So, if you are truly passionate about shaping the next chapter of open and equitable education, then you cannot miss MoodleMoot Australia.
