Moodle was first released by our Founder and CEO, Dr Martin Dougiamas, in 2001.
Fast forward 16 years later to today in 2017, Moodle is now used every country in the world by over 100 million registered users.
Each individual, education institution, organisation/workplaces or schools use our learning platform in different ways to achieve their educational, business, organisational, financial or other objectives.
We are proud that Moodle is being used widely around the world and even more happy to see the learning platform utilised to advance our mission of empowering educators to improve our world.
We (and our community) have been very inspired to hear stories about Moodle being used to deliver programs that alleviate poverty in developing countries with World Vision, or being the learning platform of choice for ethics education with TRREE (Training and Resources in Research Ethics Evaluation)
There is also the remarkable story of Moodle being used in Norway to assist the work of the nation’s emergency education for the essential services of fire, health and police departments.
We also hear about stories how Moodle is “empowering” teachers in schools and colleges to easily embrace technology for blended learning at Cochise College in the USA.
And so the stories continue…
