June 11, 2025 By Barnana Sarkar

MoodleMoot Global is back for 2025, and it’s shaping up to be one of our most engaging events yet. We’re looking forward to welcoming educators, administrators, developers, and workplace leaders in Edinburgh, 16-18 September.

In the program this year, you’ll find a mix of strategy-focused sessions and hands-on workshops, all grounded in real-world application. The full agenda is coming soon, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at a few sessions led by Moodle HQ.

Increase engagement in online courses

Be present, engaged, consistent, and social. These are the four key principles that can help educators create more effective and time-efficient online courses. This research-backed session will explore how these principles drive effective pedagogy.

You’ll learn practical strategies for building instructor presence, designing engaging learning experiences, setting clear expectations, and fostering a collaborative learning community.

Key highlights:

  • Cultivate a strong instructor presence through personalised communication tools, timely feedback mechanisms, and active participation in learning activities at scale.
  • Design engaging learning experiences that captivate students and foster deeper understanding while freeing up class time to teach.
  • Establish clear expectations and consistent structures that promote student success and reduce cognitive load – both for the student and the teacher.
  • Foster a vibrant social learning community where students can connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

Spark internal adoption and excitement around your LMS

Rolling out a new learning management system is more than just a technical project—it’s a human one. Whether you’re upgrading your LMS or introducing it for the first time, adoption hinges on how your staff feels about the platform. This session flips the script on traditional rollouts by showing you how to market your LMS internally, creating excitement, clarity, and sustained engagement from day one.

Designed for L&D professionals, instructional designers, HR leaders, IT admins, and administrators, this session will walk you through practical, low-cost strategies to make your LMS feel like an essential, energising part of your organisation’s culture.

Key highlights:

  • Why internal marketing is the secret ingredient for LMS success

  • How to tailor messages for different groups, like instructors, new hires, and managers

  • Fun tactics like branding, teaser campaigns, launch events, and rewards to get buy-in

  • Handy tools like explainer videos and starter kits that make adoption easier

  • Tips on tracking progress and using feedback to keep improving

Grab employee attention with interactive learning

Information can only be sustained if it holds the learners’ attention long enough. In this workshop, we’ll look at how educators and L&D professionals can use science to create learning and training experiences that captivate attention, encourage emotional connections, and ensure lasting impact, regardless of whether they are delivered remotely, in person, or in hybrid formats.

Key highlights:

  • Apply adult learning and neuroscience principles to make learning meaningful and memorable
  • Use techniques like storytelling, spaced repetition, emotional anchoring, and easy recall
  • Participate actively to experience these strategies firsthand
  • Receive a practical, downloadable guide with adaptable tools for any learning environment

Moodle’s step towards the future of learning

Moodle is evolving its products and teams to better serve an increasingly diverse learning ecosystem. Chief Product Officer Marie Achour will be discussing these changes, focusing on how Moodle is becoming more agile, user-centred, and impactful.

  • There’s a deepening commitment to user-centred design and technical excellence, with new teams and initiatives planned.

Workshop: Moodle and AI

The “Moodle and AI” workshop, led by Martin Dougiamas and key members of the Moodle team and community, will delve into the integration of artificial intelligence within the Moodle learning platform.

This session aims to explore various AI experiments and applications, showcasing how AI can enhance teaching and learning experiences. Participants can expect a blend of mini-presentations demonstrating practical AI implementations within Moodle, interactive brainstorming, and workshop activities designed to encourage collaboration and generate new ideas.

Moodle Marketplace: Powering up plugins for everyone

Moodle Marketplace is an upcoming new platform aimed at enhancing the Moodle plugin ecosystem. It’s designed to better support plugin developers and improve how Moodle users discover, evaluate, and access plugins and integrations.

We’ll discuss the purpose of Marketplace, the research that informed its development, the priorities for the initial launch, and the future roadmap. You’ll see how Marketplace will benefit both plugin providers and users, and how you can get involved in shaping its future.

Key highlights:

  • The session will provide insights into the “why” and “how” behind the development of Moodle Marketplace.
  • Attendees will learn about the benefits for both plugin providers and Moodle users.
  • The presentation will cover the launch priorities and future roadmap of Marketplace.
