And for institutions that built that ecosystem on infrastructure that wasn’t designed to move, every one of those pressures is harder to absorb than it needs to be. The institutions navigating this best aren’t necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets or the newest technology. They’re the ones that made adaptability a deliberate design choice.

When a new accreditation requirement lands, faculty can be left scrambling if their learning ecosystem wasn’t built to respond quickly. When AI tools emerge that could genuinely improve how students learn, there’s no clear path to integrating them. When compliance requirements shift, the infrastructure can’t flex — and institutions have to face the consequences.
This is what happens when learning infrastructure is built around processes rather than people. Teaching is inherently dynamic. It responds to students, context and what’s working or what isn’t.
